Mojo's Raptor Monitor Training

Boulder County Parks and Rec's Raptor Monitor training was very informative and we were fortunate to have several sightings while getting an overview of the area. We saw a golden eagle, 4 ospreys, 4 northern harriers, a great horned owl, a Swainson's hawk, a couple of red tailed hawks and praire falcons, plus several kestrels. The highlights were watching a male harrier bring a mouse back to his mate and then watching one of the harriers get territiorial with a red tailed hawk.

I think you'll enjoy that program in Boulder, I've heard good things about it. A big bonus is all the other stuff you'll get to observe while you're out there. Enjoy it and let us know what you see.

One and the same. I've only 'discovered' bluebirds in the past few years, got hooked on them by monitoring nestboxes. But raptors are still my first avian love.
You mention in your bio that you're monitoring raptors. Any specific species or is it a general observation program?

Now you are on track...look for the diagnostic marks on the bird-they are all there to some degree. Also remember the size of the bird you saw. The Sharpie is very tiny compared to the buteo.
